Tuesday's Thoughts

Hi friends! How is your day going? I wonder who is reading this sometimes. . .who ever you are - thanks for caring, I care about you too! :) I've head a pretty relaxed morning. I'm preparing to lead the Bible study tonight on Luke 15 (the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son). . .pray that we would grow in our understanding of God's heart for His people. . .and in turn that we would become women after His own heart. I'd love to see the girls grow in this because they are living amongst many "lost sons" and daughters. . .wouldn't it be amazing to see these girls not only love the Lord but also desire to share and show that love to others?

In an hour or so I'm going "sharing" on campus with Kelly. Really, "sharing" isn't always the best name for it. . .but what is? We, prayerfully, will talk to several girls about spiritual things by using a survey to initiate conversation. On of the reasons I love engaging in conversation with women who don't know the Lord is that so often, sadly, no one takes the time to truly listen and truly care about who they are and what their story is. "Sharing", or whatever you want to call it, provides such great opportunities for this. Within Crusade we have a definition for successful witnessing which states: successful witnessing is taking the initiate by the power of the Holy Spirit to share Christ and leaving the results up to God. I love that! Yes, it's important (and hard!) to take the initiative but so freeing to know that it's the Lord who does the work. For this reason I have never had a conversation with someone that turned negative or hostile. . .I refuse to push the Gospel on someone who doesn't care to hear it. The Lord is in charge!

I will also be meeting with Jamey, the campus director, to talk and pray for the Fellowship Dinner. It's coming up FAST! I had a nightmare a couple of nights ago that hardly anyone showed up, the program was a mess, and the food was terrible. Ha, ha! So far so good! As of today 130 people have RSVPed. . .that already 30 more then last year, praise God! I have been checking the mail and putting info into the spreadsheet. . .trying to stay on top of it all. Feels like I'm planning a wedding - except I know that I'm not because that would require a special someone in my life that currently does not exist (in case you were wondering :))!

On a personal note, last week I had blood work done to see if I have Celiac Disease, otherwise known as a gluten allergy. Well the test came back negative so . . . wheat is still my friend! :) Now I am really curious as to what might be going on. . .yay for the colonoscopy on Monday. I'm not excited, but I am thankful that eventually I'll be feeling better then I am now.

I'm cooking dinner tonight - chili (a recipe from the Grace Church cookbook) and cornbread (Marie Callandars. . .just add water, it was on sale at Food 4 Less!) and I've been calling around to see if someone wants to enjoy this meal with my roommate and I. Perhaps you can drive over. . .just give me a call? :)

I read your blog and I love it! It always is so encouraging to me to see the ways God is using you at Cal Poly!

So glad you can still eat wheat - not being able to would be such a bummer. Hopefully you'll be able to figure out what's wrong though! And I would totally drive over for dinner if it weren't so far away! Have a fun night!

i am a faithful reader... your blog is always so refreshing and so you!

not being able to eat wheat would totally stink... but hopefully you'll figure out what's wrong! i am just about to get sick! i can feel it in my head and my throat was super sore and burning today. =(

the doorbell just rang and screaming kids just greeted my poor father =) did you do anything for halloween? i feel old; i don't find much interesting about it anymore. today in my 101 class, we read "the raven" and i showed them a clip from the simpson's halloween special that parodied "the raven." i wish i had classes that showed youtube videos!

thanks for your letter! i got it yesterday along with a very thoughtful gift inside!!! my nose is so stuffy; i won't waste the teabag until i'm feeling better enough to taste it! =) you're right about the rhyme being a little off... and it's actually grammatically incorrect-- "real quick"-- but that's ok... it IS the thought that counts. did you have a fun halloween?
